Twenty-five minutes till lunch. Isabella Jones skipped a song on her iPod. And then another song. Why did she have so many stupid songs on her iPod? Finally she settled on Katy Perry’s E.T. for the ninth time that day. Focusing back on her task, she started flipping pages in the huge binder on her desk while scrolling through the electronic version of the same document.
Yep, the pages on the computer screen and in the binder were the same. And the next page. And the next. Oh! Wait a second, there was something fishy here; the pages appeared to be differ…nope. She had accidentally flipped two pages instead of one.
Twenty-two minutes till lunch and the song had ended. Isabella skipped a dozen or so songs before deciding it had been long enough since she had checked her Twitter. Surprisingly, no one had posted anything in the last ten minutes. Halfway through typing a tweet about being bored or lonely or tired or hungry or over all mild dissatisfaction with her existence, she backspaced and closed the page. Back to work.
Twenty-one minutes till lunch. “Kiss me, k-k-kiss me…” Isabella mouthed the words to E.T. which only seemed to have gotten better by the tenth listen. Her hand was starting to cramp from flipping pages. “Take me, ta-ta-take me. Wanna be a victim, ready for abduction, boy, you’re an ali-” Isabella cut off suddenly as she realized she had stopped mouthing the words and had actually started singing. “It’s supernatural, extraterrestrial.” The song ended, but Isabella had already switched her play mode to repeat. She had to remember to load more songs onto her iPod.
Eighteen minutes till lunch.
